Sony's popular 1" sensor has arrived in their camcorders--and it's a big deal. Camcorders typically have smaller sensors than still cameras; the sensor on the CX900 is about eight times the average size. Larger sensors mean better resolution, better low-light performance and just overall better video quality. The CX900 also has a good maximum aperture of f2.8. It's equipped with optical image stabilization and records in a nice fast 60 fps. Outside of their new 4k compact camcorder, the AX100, the Sony CX900 is the manufacturer's top mainstream camcorder. At the $1,500 price point, however, we'd like to see some built-in memory, especially since file sizes will be larger than average.
