Sony Handycam DCR-SX45 Brief Review

Sony's SX45 is a straightforward standard-definition camcorder, nothing more, nothing less. Some folks still prefer standard-def video cameras -- if they don't have an HDTV or a computer that can handle HD video, there's no point in recording anything in high-def. For those folks, the SX45 will be a very solid option. The 60x optical zoom range is certainly powerful, though the image stabilization is digital-only so a tripod is a must-have. And like all 2011 Sony Handycams, the SX45 features a built-in USB cable. It captures exclusively to Memory Stick or SD/SDHC cards; check out the SX65 or SX85, which come with 4GB and 16GB of embedded flash memory, respectively and are otherwise identical.
