Standard definition; 52x optical/65x Intelli-zoom; f1.8 max aperture; Digital image stabilization; Captures to SD/SDHC media cards, 8GB built-in flash memory; Rechargeable lithium-ion battery
Samsung's standard-def F series has been popular over the past few years because a) the camcorders are cheap and b) they have huge zoom ranges. The F53 carries on that tradition with a 52x optical zoom range (65x software-enhanced Intelli-zoom) and sub-$200 price tag. Use the money you save to buy a tripod, because the F53 only has digital image stabilization. This model comes with 8GB of built-in flash memory; also check out the F50, which records exclusively to cards but costs a bit less, or the F54, with 16GB of built-in flash memory. All things considered, this is a good deal.
