Replaced by the HF R200. Still worthwhile if you can find it for a decent price, though. Here's what we had to say when it was released in 2010:
The Canon VIXIA HF R100 records high-definition video to removable SD memory cards (read our hands-on review of the similar HF-R10). It's equipped with a 20X zoom, one-touch recording, economical battery consumption, a widescreen LCD, a fancy Dynamic IS feature, and Smart Auto Mode for super-easy use. With all the high definition camcorders on the market, it can get kind of tough to choose between them: so for references' sake, the HF R100 is distinguished by being the most budget-friendly of the HF R line; the other, more expensive versions offer built-in memory as well as SD card recording.
