We're not sure what we like more about Polaroid's new action camera--the size, or the price. Measuring less than an inch and a half, the Polaroid Cube only retails for $99, which makes it both attainable in price and size.
The tiny action cam will record 1080p HD at 30 fps, though with just eight megapixels for stills. Its 124 degree wide angle lens appears more than capable of capturing the action POV style.
As the name suggests, the camera body is a tiny cube, really just consisting of a lens and a single button. The Polaroid Cube is weather-sealed, and shockproof too. The only included mount is a built-in magnet, but there's a range of different options that can be purchased seperately.
The wi-fi capabilities with the Polaroid app allows the user to control the settings, and serves as a viewfinder too.
While the size and feature set looks good for the price, keep in mind it is still a $100 camera--don't expect the footage to compare with that of a $400 GoPro. And the Cube also records just five minutes at a time, so footage is stored in small clips, not one long video.
Still, for $99, the Cube certainly looks to get the job done and looks capable of capturing those action moments with video qulity that's at least good enough to share online. If your wallet can take more streacthing and the Cube's tiny size appeals to you, consider the GoPro Hero4 Session.
