Panasonic V380 offers 62x optical zoom
The Panasonic V380 is a solid consumer camcorder with a good zoom.

Panasonic has added a bit more zoom to their mid-range consumer option, packing a 62x optical zoom and a 90x intelligent zoom into the V380.

The Panasonic V380 records 1080p HD video at a smooth 50 fps. The 62x optical zoom, paired with a hybrid image stabilization system, makes it a versatile consumer camcorder, good for applications from making videos of kids to their sports games.

The V380 also offers built-in wi-fi for pairing with a smartphone. That feature allows users to upload videos easily, or even use the smartphone camera for picture-in-picture recording.

Weighing about half a pound, the Panasonic V380 is fairly compact. A 3" touchscreen navigates through the different shooting options. Battery life isn't the best at a little over an hour.

Compared to the older V290, the V380 offers more zoom (62x vs. 50x). The screen is also a bit larger and the battery life was improved by about ten minutes.

The Panasonic offers a nice zoom and feature set for the $330 price point.
