Canon VIXIA HF R500
Preview of the Canon VIXIA HF R500.
By Hillary Grigonis, Last updated on: 4/7/2015

Canon announced three new HF camcorders during CES 2014; the HF R500 is the least expensive of the trio, with a retail price of $299.99. All three cameras include an impressive 57x zoom, optical image stabilization, a 3.28 megapixel sensor and a three inch touchscreen. As the most affordable in the 2014 HF options, the HF R500 doesn't include all the bells and whistles, but with the same sensor, processor and bright f1.8-4.5 lens, image quality should be very similar between the models. The HF R500 doesn't have any storage (SD card only) or wi-fi, but still offers solid video, which, after all is the most important element. Check out the HF R50 and HF R52 models.
